Google Flights: Find cheaper flights

Google Flights: Find cheaper flights - that's how it works
Google Flights not only displays all flights for your destination. But Google Flights also finds cheaper alternative flights and displays them clearly. Free. That's how it's done.
Google Flights: Find cheaper flights - that's how it works. Here is the airport overview on a map.

Google Flights gives you a quick overview of the flight options between your departure airport and your destination airport. But how do you find particularly cheap flights and real bargain-fliers with this free Google tool on the smartphone?

Enter the destination airport on Google Flights on your smartphone. Google will usually match the departure airport with your current location and any other information that Google has stored about you, in any case. If necessary, change the departure airport. Then enter the date. If necessary, you provide additional information such as flight time or that you do without the return flight.

Google will then show you the available flights in real time. If you're using Google Flights on a smartphone, Google will show you a slider named "Cheaper Flights" in the first three hits in the flight list, which you can slide left and right. The slider offers entries for "Travel data", "Price graph", "Airports" and "Tips".

Now tap on "Travel data". Then you will see alternative flights in the vicinity of your previously stated travel dates, some of which may be cheaper than the one you have chosen. So you can save a few bucks if you fly one day earlier or later. The cheaper flights are immediately recognizable - they are marked green on the calendar view.

You may find cheaper flights around your flight here.
Under "Price Graph", a clear bar chart shows you which days flights are particularly expensive or particularly cheap. "Airports" in turn shows you on a map the airports that are suitable for your destination. Maybe you can save money by changing the airport? Keep in mind, however, that the money saved on the flight is quickly gone if you need to book a much longer taxi ride to reach your hotel.

On the left the overview of the existing airports including price differences. Right view on which days flights are cheaper or more expensive.
For tourists, the "tips" section is also valuable: Google compiles information on sights, excursion destinations and city tours at the destination.

Very important: Do not rely solely on Google Flights for the fare search, but also compare offers on other online platforms.
